Grounds Cleanup To Begin In May 2012
Well, everybody knew that at some point in time some of the
buildings would be coming down and it looks like that time has finally arrived.
A contract was awarded a few months back and if all goes as planed demolition
will begin in May. A number of the buildings slated to come down stopped being
used by the Hospital years before it even closed and thus went years without any
maintenance and are ready to completely collapse on their own within a few more
years if left as they are. A few on the list don't seem to make sense right now.
Various areas will have limited or no access during the work
The following is a list of most of the buildings and grounds to be cleaned up
starting in May. Building 23
Recreation Center

For now the plane is to just take down the smoke stack
Remove the oil tanks
Remove the coal car trestle footings
Clean up the ash pile and grounds of the 2nd power plant
Take down the sand shed
